Maria Carole

Maria Carole (b. 1983) writes fantasy in which the whole spectrum of life is present: love, fear and the constant longing for something better. Her debut novel Tulen tyttäriä ("Daughters of Fire") was nominated for Kuvastaja Award 2015.

Carole lives in northern France but likes to keep a flavour of Finland in her writing. Among her strengths are beautiful and thought-out narrativeand her interest in character building. She wants to explore emotions and motives and how people react when the world forces them to act contrary to their character or how they've been taught to behave. In short stories Carole prefers topics that are a bit crooked and she ofter draws from the opposite ends: on the one hand from light romantic literature, on the other from horror stories.
